About Rockville Centre

Rockville Centre is a village of about twenty-five thousand built around a station and a genuine downtown — a combination the South Shore has less of than its reputation suggests. Park Avenue and the blocks off it carry restaurants, shops and a cinema at a density that supports walking rather than driving, and the residential streets fan out from there in a mix of Victorians, Tudors and centre-hall Colonials on lots that are modest by North Shore standards and generous by village ones. It is its own incorporated village with its own police force and its own electric utility, which is unusual, and its station is an express stop — thirty-odd minutes to Penn Station, and the single fact that shapes the market most.

a year — an effective rate of 2.25% of market value

Rates are levied per $1,000 of full market value and shown here against the Rockville Centre school district. This figure does not include special districts (fire, water, library, sanitation, ambulance); STAR, veterans, senior and other exemptions; the Incorporated Village of Rockville Centre levies its own tax on top of this, and every address in Rockville Centre is inside it — so this figure understates every parcel in the village, not merely some. We pull the actual bill for any specific parcel before you go to contract.

The Commute

Getting to Rockville Centre

LIRR
Rockville Centre is an express stop on the Babylon Branch, which is the reason a good deal of the village lives where it does — Penn Station in about thirty-five minutes and Grand Central in a similar time, on a one-seat ride with no change at Jamaica. The station sits at the edge of the downtown, so a large share of the village walks to it.
By Car
The Meadowbrook Parkway and Sunrise Highway are both immediate, with the Southern State a few minutes north; Midtown is roughly forty-five minutes off-peak and a good deal more at rush hour. The train wins here more decisively than in most Nassau towns.
